Star Wars Television Shows Ranked

Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)

Live-action (Limited Series)

Set ten years after Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi brings back Ewan McGregor in the title role. The series explores his time in hiding on Tatooine and his emotional journey as he confronts his past—especially his failure with Anakin, who is now Darth Vader. A blend of character drama and action, it reconnects fans with prequel-era emotion and original trilogy nostalgia.

Most Star Wars fans loved this show. It did all the things you wanted. Including an appearance of Darth Vadar felt right. It’s interesting. The concept fits into the story line cannon well. There are some slopy story telling things but over all it’s really enjoyable. Props for getting the original actors to be involved in the television show.

Andor (2022–present)

Live-action

Andor is a gritty, slow-burn spy thriller that explores the early rebellion against the Empire. Centered on Cassian Andor from Rogue One, it delves into the moral complexities of resistance and oppression. With sharp writing and mature themes, Andor is critically praised as one of the most sophisticated Star Wars shows to date.

My understanding is that this was two and done. Great story telling and probably most peioples favorite. The second season was particularly rewarding for science fiction fans. Especially those of us who love Rogue One.

The Mandalorian (2019–present)

The Mandalorian kicked off Disney+’s Star Wars era, following the mysterious bounty hunter Din Djarin as he protects a powerful child known as Grogu (or “Baby Yoda” to fans). Set after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order, the series blends Western and samurai influences with rich lore and groundbreaking visuals. It helped reignite global interest in the Star Wars universe.

After the movies seemed to become weeker. Well the Solo film was a complete disaster Disney moved toward TV for Star Wars instead of film. It made a lot of sense. How they ruined a han solo origin story is beyond me. This project could have saved the entire franchise. The genious of the entire thing is the baby yoda. Those of us who enjoyed the show can’t wait for a baby yoda movie, lets just hope they don’t make the same mistakes that they did with the Han Solo film.

The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022)

Live-action

Spinning off from The Mandalorian, this series centers on the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand as they try to seize control of Tatooine’s criminal underworld. While exploring Boba’s past and survival from the Sarlacc pit, the show weaves character development with fan-service cameos and connective tissue to The Mandalorian.

This was basically good. The only downside was another show about a character that is basically a bad guy. It worked just like Mandalorian. It felt like part of the series in many ways.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Live-action
Announced for December 3, 2024, this series from The Mandalorian creators is an ’80s-style coming-of-age sci-fi adventure. It centers on four kids stranded in the galaxy and stars Jude Law as a mysterious ally guiding their journey.

This is goonies in space set in the world of Star Wars. They might have dragged out the number of episodes a little. It’s a lot of fun with some cool lead kid characters. It was different and a nice change from the other Star Wars hows.

The Acolyte (2024)

Live-action, Limited Series
A thunderous mystery thriller set at the end of the High Republic era, focusing on a Jedi investigation into a series of brutal crimes. Featuring Lee Jung‑jae, Amandla Stenberg, Carrie‑Anne Moss, and others, it premiered in June 2024 and concluded its eight-episode run in July before being canceled due to low viewership

This story was set in a different universe. It had a lot of really good stuff. At times it’s super entertaining but other times, it felt off or that it lacked something. My memory is that it ended with a cliffhanger and ultimately Disney canceled the show. For that reason you might want to skip it like the rest of the animated shows. It’s really not bad.

Ahsoka (2023–present)

Live-action

Following The Mandalorian and Rebels, Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as the former Jedi Knight tracking down Grand Admiral Thrawn and searching for missing hero Ezra Bridger. The show continues Dave Filoni’s storytelling, bringing animated characters into live action and expanding the galaxy’s mystical and mythological side

A lot of us really enjoyed this. Was it the best? no. It’s solid star wars. The best part is that the star is female which is nice for a change.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021–present)

Animated

This animated series follows Clone Force 99, a squad of genetically enhanced clones, navigating the galaxy after the fall of the Republic. With the Empire rising, the team must find their place in a changing world. The Bad Batch combines military strategy, emotion, and action while deepening the legacy of The Clone Wars.

Another cartoon that is basically unwatchable. A few cute episodes mixed in but this is not for adults. Again Pixar figured out how to make stories for both adults and children lets get with the program Lucas Films.

Star Wars Rebels (2014–2018)

Animated

Set five years before A New Hope, Rebels follows a small group of rebels aboard the starship Ghost as they battle the growing Empire. With appearances from familiar characters like Darth Vader and Leia, and the introduction of Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus, Rebels combines heart, action, and mythology, tying together many elements of the Star Wars timeline

honestly I never watched this. I tried but I found it very boring. I’m not sure why Star Wars movies and shows are so good as live action but when they turn them into animation they are not watchable for a lot of adults. Disney owns the franchise and they make a ton of amazing cartoon movies and Pixar has made some the best films of all time.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008–2020)

Animated

The Clone Wars is a critically acclaimed animated series that expands on the events between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. It explores the galaxy-wide conflict through the eyes of Jedi like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano. The show deepens the lore and humanizes the clone troopers, revealing emotional, political, and philosophical layers often missing from the prequel films.

The concept is so good. After the prequel movies there was a lot to get excited about when they announced the concept, but it’s not for adults. It’s really only suited to the super fan or children. Hopefully the Star Wars animated shows help build a fan base with young kids who can grow up into the movies and other more adult story telling.

Tales of the Jedi (2022–present)

Animated Anthology

This short-format animated series presents standalone episodes focused on key Jedi, such as Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. Each tale adds emotional depth and historical context to characters from both the prequel and Clone Wars eras, blending stylized animation with poignant storytelling.
